Star wars episode 1 racers8/17/2023 ![]() Start a left slide early and disengage your boost in time to make the first left curve— in the lead and without hitting any walls. When the finish line is in sight, start charging that speed boost (if you haven't already), because now is your big chance: boost across the finish line and this time go outside around the observation tower. Stay on the inside and avoid confrontation. ![]() Racers crowd the curvy section before the finish line: don't get into a brawl, or you won't be able to boost at the straightaway. Once around it, slide and turn fairly sharply left to speed back to the inside of the track for the upcoming sprint to the finish line. ![]() ![]() If it looks like you're going to hit a wall, though, it's better to hit your brakes or lay off the boost than to sacrifice your Podracer.Īs you approach the second observation tower, keep to the outside. If you start sliding early enough, you may be able to maintain that boost through the next left curve. Squeeze a very quick speed boost out of the short straightaway. Instead, boost if you can, but hug the left wall and, as you pass the tower, slide to take the first sharp left without hitting the wall opposite. If you boost off the start line, you may steer into the center observation tower ahead. You may survive crashing once, but twice only ensures an opponent's victory.īe careful on this track from the very start. You won't have many thrust opportunities, so once you're in the lead, just try not to hit anything. This course calls for calm driving skills and precise Podracer management. It may be easy to get into first place, but it's equally easy to stay behind once you fall a place or two. The Mon Gazza Speedway is the tournament's shortest track, but don't be fooled. Just before you cross the finish line, hit your slide and let off on your accelerator to make the sharp left. It's tempting to thrust through the finish line, but if you do, you risk missing the first left turn of the next lap and careening into the grandstand. Just remember to terminate your boost before you cause an engine fire. On your second time through this area, most of these rocks will have been cleared by the other racers, so use this straight stretch to your advantage. Try to use your speed boost your first time through, but note that when you hit a rock, it explodes, and this costs you a lot of speed. Jettison from Jett's Chute and onto the straightaway. Just before you get there, flip your racer up onto its side for an easy fit. Center yourself on the course early and get ready to squeeze through the crack. Toward the end of the canyon, a narrow opening shoots you out onto Hutt Flats. It's best to take this winding canyon carefully rather than to bounce recklessly off the walls. Employ your slide and brake when necessary. If there are particularly large Podracers about, you may want to slow down and let them through first rather than muscle through at the same time. If you're not, pay close attention to who's around you. Jag's Cragg is the entrance to Jett's Chute. Instead, either slide-turn left and lose a little speed, or attempt a speed boost over the left shoulder, aware that if you can't pull it off, you'll be flying over slow, soft sand. Be sharp and don't thrust straight into the rock. When the arena is long behind you, it looks as if the course will veer to the right, but don't be fooled. There are a lot of areas where you can open up your throttle and boost, but don't overdo it. For this race, you'll want a steady Podracer with decent top speed and a good cooling system. So check your engines constantly and keep them in good operating condition by repairing them before things get out of hand.Ī shortened version of the Boonta Classic, the Boonta Training Course allows inexperienced pilots from all over the galaxy to get a taste of what they all dream of— speeding across the Mos Espa finish line. And so will repairing that engine, because to do so, you've got to cut power to it. If an engine takes too much damage or catches fire, your racer will veer to that side. Remember, though, that repairing cuts your speed by about half and disrupts your steering briefly. Whether other racers hit you too often, your engine catches fire, or you've been bouncing off walls left and right, repair should cure what ails you. That's why each Podracer has a built-in repair mechanism. There's no way around it: racing will damage your engines.
